Upper tower of Laurel Heights United Methodist Church

True story: I really wanted to shoot some footage of San Antonio churches. I have a fondness for the way the people of God choose to build the house of God, and footage of sacred places is perfect for church videos that I want to create.

I decided it was better to go shoot than to continually plan. I went with a friend to eat lunch at Chris Madrid’s. Afterwords, we just started driving around looking for churches. We stumbled upon Laurel Heights United Methodist. We were struck by the beauty of the architecture, so we decided to see if we could get permission to shoot. I was skeptical, afraid that the church would be untrusting of strangers. I was more than surprised by their hospitality. I met Senior Pastor Jim McClain, who graciously gave us full permission to shoot and gave us a map of the building.

While shooting in their sanctuary, we were greeted by Kercida McClain, Director of Christian Education. She told us we needed to check out the church’s tower. She got a key and let us in to the upper areas of the church. I was amazed by the tower, the beautiful church, and the hospitality of the staff.

Footage of this amazing church will be used soon. Here are a couple of shots.
